South Africa Expands Tourism with New 48‑Hour ETA Visa for Indian Travelers

South Africa has launched an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) that allows eligible Indian passport holders to apply online for a short‑stay visa within 24 to 48 hours. The digital system links the authorisation to the traveller’s passport, permits multiple entries and supports stays of up to 90 days for tourism or work. Applications are processed through the Department of Home Affairs portal and are accepted at O.R. Tambo International Airport, Cape Town International Airport and Lanseria International Airport, with plans to extend to other ports.

The visa facilitation comes as South Africa promotes its diverse attractions, from Cape Town’s historic sites and Table Mountain to the Cape Winelands, the Garden Route and wildlife reserves such as the Chobe National Park. The new ETA aims to streamline immigration, strengthen border security and make the country more accessible to international visitors, especially from India.
