South Africa files ICJ document alleging Israel non-compliance
South Africa has submitted a formal file to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) alleging that Israel is failing to comply with the court's binding provisional measures. The submission, made by South Africa's Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation, was filed under Article 11 of the ICJ's Decision on Internal Judicial Application.
In its statement, South Africa reported that since the declaration of the so-called ceasefire, the Israeli military has killed an average of one Palestinian child per day. The ministry further stated that Palestinians in Gaza are being subjected to increasingly difficult living conditions, forced into shrinking areas, and facing trauma, displacement, and arbitrary detention.
South Africa also accused Israel of obstructing the documentation of its actions by killing local journalists and preventing foreign media and United Nations investigative bodies from entering the Gaza Strip. The ministry emphasized that it will continue to pursue all available legal avenues to ensure Israel's full and immediate compliance with the ICJ's rulings.
