South Africa launches revised White Paper on Local Government

President Cyril Ramaphosa has officially launched the revised White Paper on Local Government, marking a significant reform of the nation's local governance system. The initiative represents a reset of the framework that has been in place for nearly three decades.

The reform aims to improve the relationship between the government and its citizens by addressing service delivery at the municipal level. The President emphasized that local government is the sphere closest to the people, directly impacting essential services such as water supply, electricity, road maintenance, refuse collection, and public safety.
