South Africa prepares for major cricket Test series and rugby rivalry

South African cricket is set to host a significant Test summer, featuring tours from Australia, Bangladesh, and England. Between October and January, the Proteas will play eight home Tests, marking a period intended to restore the longest format of the game to a central role in the national sporting calendar amidst the rising popularity of T20 and franchise cricket.

In rugby, the Springboks and All Blacks are set to compete in a four-Test series. While the initial matches in Johannesburg and Cape Town have seen high demand, the fourth Test is scheduled to take place at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, USA. This move is part of a strategic effort by the South African Rugby Union (SARU) and New Zealand Rugby (NZR) to expand their brands in the United States ahead of the 2031 Rugby World Cup.
