Southern and Eastern Africa face widespread rain and temperature alerts

Multiple regions across Southern and Eastern Africa are facing unsettled weather conditions. In South Africa, widespread showers and thundershowers are expected across Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga, the Free State, North West, and the Northern Cape. Specific warnings have been issued for reduced visibility in Limpopo and Mpumalanga, as well as severe thunderstorms in parts of the Northern Cape. The Garden Route is also bracing for a cool, wet weekend with dropping temperatures.

In Kenya, the Meteorological Service Authority has issued a five-day alert for moderate to heavy rains affecting several counties, including the Coast, Eastern, Central, and Rift Valley regions. Additionally, residents in Central Kenya are warned to prepare for unusually cold nights, with temperatures in Nyandarua potentially dropping to between 5°C and 9°C.

Namibia is experiencing mixed weather, with cloud cover in the north and east and drizzle along the coast. Oranjemund is under a high probability of heavy rain or thunderstorms.
