South Africa Women name squad for historic T20I series in Zimbabwe

South Africa Women have announced a 15-member squad for a historic five-match T20I series against Zimbabwe, scheduled to take place at Queen's Sports Club in Bulawayo from September 11 to 19. The tour marks the first time the South African women's team has traveled to Zimbabwe and the first time the two nations will face each other in the T20 format.

Captain Laura Wolvaardt will lead a squad that includes nine returning players who were absent from the recent ICC Women's T20 World Cup, such as Faye Tunnicliffe and Anneke Bosch. The selection also features three uncapped players—Caitlin Wyngaard, Nthabiseng Nini, and Luyanda Nzuza—all of whom earned their senior call-ups following strong performances with the South Africa Emerging Women.

In domestic Zimbabwean cricket, recent T20 matches saw significant performances, including a 113-run victory for the Zimbabwe U19 Women over the Mega Market Mountaineers, led by an unbeaten 89 from Lorraine Pemhiwa. Additionally, the Eagles Women secured a six-wicket win against the Rhinos Women at the Bulawayo Athletic Club.
