South African banks launch Nav. energy renewable platform

Three of South Africa’s largest financial institutions—FNB, WesBank, and RMB—have launched Nav. energy, an integrated platform designed to simplify how businesses access, finance, and implement renewable energy solutions.

The platform aims to reduce the technical, financial, and operational complexities businesses face when seeking energy resilience and cost certainty. By combining funding with expertise and delivery partners, Nav. energy provides flexible ownership models to support sustainable economic growth and climate resilience.

Industry experts, including Rogan Davies, Group CEO of Rhino Energy Solutions (RES), noted at the Solar & Storage Live Cape Town event that the traditional sequence of solar adoption—where businesses select technology before consulting lenders—can lead to increased costs and risks. The new platform seeks to address these gaps by integrating financial planning earlier in the project lifecycle.
