South African Broadcasting Corp's SABC+ hits 3 million registered users
The South African Broadcasting Corporation’s free streaming service, SABC+, announced that it has surpassed three million registered users as of 3 August 2026. The platform’s growth accelerated after a strategic relaunch in July 2024, reaching one million users a year later, 1.5 million by October 2025, 2.15 million by March 2026 and adding nearly a million more in the following four months.
SABC CEO Nomsa Chabeli said the milestone exceeds the broadcaster’s annual target by 54 percent and highlights strong consumer trust in local content. Marketing head Sibusiso Gumbi noted that the expanding, fully logged‑in audience enables more personalized viewing and gives advertisers access to high‑value first‑party data for data‑driven campaigns.
The company plans to continue expanding content, refining the user experience and building commercial value across its digital ecosystem.
