South African Deputy President Mashatile addresses service delivery and water crisis

South African Deputy President Paul Mashatile has launched a Parliamentary Constituency Office in Ntuzuma, north of Durban, intended to bridge the gap between elected officials and local communities. The office is designed to track community complaints regarding crime, infrastructure, and water issues, ensuring reports are escalated to the relevant ministers and municipalities for action.

During recent engagements, Mashatile also addressed a water crisis in Bronkhorstspruit within the City of Tshwane. Following reports of 408 cases of gastrointestinal illness linked to contaminated water, the Deputy President, acting as chair of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Water and Sanitation, visited the Bronkhorstspruit Water Treatment Works. His visit included assessing infrastructure and meeting with hospitalized patients to coordinate government interventions and restore safe water supplies.
