South African fan taunts Nathan Lyon with sandpaper

During the first day of the third Test match between South Africa and Australia at Newlands in Cape Town, a South African supporter used sandpaper to taunt Australian spinner Nathan Lyon.

A viral video captured the interaction, which served as a reference to the 2018 ball-tampering scandal involving Australian players Cameron Bancroft, Steve Smith, and David Warner during a Test match at the same venue. While Lyon was not involved in the original offense, he was a member of the Australian squad at the time.

On the field, Lyon contributed to the match by dismissing Marques Ackerman and South African captain Temba Bavuma. The incident occurred amidst a hostile reception for the Australian team from the home crowd.
