South African PSL clubs reinforce defence with two key signings

Sekhukhune United have completed the permanent signing of defender Nyiko Mobbie. The 31‑year‑old, who previously spent three seasons on loan at the club while contracted to the Brazilians, returns after a stint with Siwelele. Mobbie, a former Free State Stars and Mamelodi Sundowns player and South African international, is expected to bolster Sekhukhune’s back line ahead of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership campaign.

Kaizer Chiefs have added centre‑back Thabo Moloisane on a free transfer after his departure from Stellenbosch FC. Former Chiefs defender Tefu Mashamaite praised Moloisane as a suitable replacement for Aden McCarthy, noting his experience in African competition and his regular involvement with the national team. The signing aims to restore stability to the Chiefs’ defence following McCarthy’s move to Europe.
