Tyla releases A*POP album, headlines WNBA All-Star halftime show
South African singer Tyla has launched her second studio album, A*POP, a 14‑track project featuring singles such as “CHANEL,” “IS IT,” and “SHE DID IT AGAIN” with Zara Larsson. The album blends pop, R&B, amapiano and Afrobeats and has received positive reviews from international outlets including The Guardian, NME and Pitchfork.
Following the album’s release, Tyla became the first African artist to headline the 2026 WNBA All‑Star Game halftime show in Chicago, marking a historic milestone for South African performers in U.S. sports entertainment. Earlier in the week she also performed with Shakira at New York’s Barclays Center and appeared on The Today Show’s Citi Summerstage.
In addition to the music rollout, Tyla secured a partnership with the Bratz brand, becoming the first African artist to receive an official Bratz collector doll, highlighting her expanding influence across fashion and popular culture.
