South African striker Tshegofatso Mabasa to sign with Moroccan club Maghreb de Fes
South African forward Tshegofatso John Mabasa, 29, is set to join Botola Pro champions Maghreb de Fes in Morocco. The former Orlando Pirates legend, who scored 50 goals for the South African club and most recently played on loan at Stellenbosch FC, became a free agent after his loan expired. With no Premier Soccer League team offering a contract, his representatives arranged a deal in principle with the Moroccan side. Mabasa has travelled to Morocco to complete a medical examination before signing a contract that will be announced in the coming days.
The move will bolster Maghreb de Fes' attack ahead of the new season and the CAF Champions League, where the club will defend its title. It also marks the first overseas signing for the Moroccan team in the current summer window, replacing departing players and adding experience from Mabasa's domestic and continental campaigns.
