South African Tourism Board appointed for three-year term
The South African Cabinet has approved the appointment of a new South African Tourism (SA Tourism) Board for a three-year term. The new leadership is intended to strengthen governance, strategic oversight, and the organization’s contribution to the national tourism economy.
Minister of Tourism Patricia de Lille announced the appointment of 11 board members, including Akona Nobulali Matsau as Deputy Board Chairperson. The new board replaces an interim structure that has managed the organization since August 2025. While the board members have been named, the appointment of the Chairperson is pending publication in the Government Gazette following Cabinet concurrence.
The board inherits an executive leadership team that has seen recent changes, including the appointment of Sechaba Motsieloa as Interim CEO. The Minister stated that the new board’s expertise is expected to help position South Africa as a premier global destination and drive economic growth through job creation and investment.
