South Africa's anti-corruption agency head Andrea Johnson to testify before Madlanga Commission

Retired Judge Takalani Joseph Raulinga, overseeing the Independent Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC), stated that the IDAC Oversight Judge will not comment on ongoing commissions of inquiry or court proceedings, emphasizing that each institution must respect the mandates of others to preserve the credibility of South Africa's legal system.

The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry expects IDAC head Advocate Andrea Johnson, who has been discharged from hospital and returned to work, to give evidence within days. Johnson faces allegations that she shielded Crime Intelligence Major General Feroz Khan from prosecution and interfered in investigations, including an assault case involving Khan. The commission seeks her testimony to address these claims and other concerns about IDAC's handling of investigations.
