South American airlines add new routes to strengthen tourism and trade

JetSMART announced a new direct service between Buenos Aires, Argentina and Medellín, Colombia, beginning on 12 November. The airline will operate five weekly flights to the José María Córdova International Airport, with promotional fares of about $330 (USD 219) per segment. Country Manager Gonzalo Pérez Corral said the route will boost tourism and business travel between the two countries, while ProColombia President Carmen Caballero highlighted its role in promoting Colombia as a competitive destination.

In Bolivia, the provincial government of Santa Cruz met with LATAM Airlines officials to explore additional direct air connections. Tourism Secretary Diego Gamboa and Commerce Secretary Paulo Lunzevich discussed possible routes from regional hubs such as Santiago (Chile) and São Paulo (Brazil) to increase international visitor flow and support local commerce. Both sides agreed to continue technical negotiations in the coming weeks to develop viable projects that will enhance the province’s connectivity and economic development.
