South American airports implement new VIP lounges and biometric controls

Several airports in South America are implementing upgrades to improve passenger experience and efficiency. At Santos Dumont Airport in Rio de Janeiro, the Harmony Lounge has inaugurated a new VIP space. Located on the first floor before the inspection channel, the lounge offers a buffet, workspaces, and meeting rooms. Access is currently facilitated through the Visa Airport Companion app, with plans to include LoungeKey and Priority Pass.

In Campinas, Viracopos International Airport has deployed a new automated border control system in its international terminal. Utilizing advanced biometric technology, the airport installed nine new inspection gates in partnership with SITA, Digicon, the Federal Police, and ANAC. The system is designed to speed up processing for natural-born or naturalized Brazilian citizens, reducing the time for a group of 200 passengers from 30 minutes to 10 minutes.

In Buenos Aires, Ezeiza International Airport has opened the AMAE Lounge in its domestic terminal. Managed by Grupo CrossRacer, the 500-square-meter space accommodates over 100 passengers and provides Wi-Fi, workstations, and buffet services. Access is available via DragonPass, Lounge Key, and Priority Pass.

Additionally, Multiplan is integrating airport VIP lounge access into its loyalty program. Through the Multi app, Platinum and Gold category customers can access various lounges via the LoungeKey platform.
