South American Bird Fair held in Asunción

The XV South American Bird Fair is currently taking place at the Centro Cultural del Puerto in Asunción, Paraguay. The event, themed ‘A culture inspired by nature’, brings together ornithologists, researchers, nature photographers, and birdwatchers from across South America.

The fair aims to promote knowledge of South American avifauna and highlight the potential of birdwatching tourism as a tool for sustainable development. Paraguay hosts approximately 700 bird species nationwide, with over 300 species recorded in the Asunción area alone.

In addition to academic and professional exchange, the event offers field trips for bird observation and provides information on public policies and research projects regarding Paraguayan fauna. The gathering serves to position the country as an international destination for nature tourism.
