South American football: Lichnovsky transfer rumors and River Plate crisis

In South American football, defender Igor Lichnovsky has fueled rumors of a return to Universidad de Chile. After becoming a free agent following his time in Turkey, Lichnovsky posted a video from Mexico on social media with the message, “Solo vine a despedirme por un tiempo” (I only came to say goodbye for a while). The post included the song “Vuelvo para vivir” by Illapu, a track frequently used by Universidad de Chile supporters. While no official announcement has been made, reports suggest the club's management has initiated talks with his representatives.

Meanwhile, in Argentina, River Plate captain Nicolás Otamendi has issued an optimistic message amid the club's worst sporting crisis in 120 years. The team, led by coach Eduardo Coudet, has suffered six consecutive defeats, a streak not seen since 1906. Otamendi shared a post on Instagram stating, “Con fe de que todo va a estar bien. Seguimos trabajando” (With faith that everything will be fine. We keep working), attempting to bolster morale as the club prepares for its upcoming match against Argentinos Juniors.
