Santa Fe prepares infrastructure for 2026 South American Games

Preparations are underway for the 2026 South American Games in Santa Fe, Argentina, with the Lago del Parque Sur designated as a key venue for open water swimming, canoeing, water skiing, and wakeboarding. To support the event, the Santa Fe provincial government is investing over $90 million in sports infrastructure, including upgrades to the Club Náutico El Quillá. This investment is supported by $75 million from the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF).

Prior to the South American Games, the Lago del Parque Sur will host the 2026 World Junior Open Water Swimming Championships from September 3 to 6.

In preparation for the regional competition, Venezuela has finalized its open water swimming team. The squad features veteran athletes Diego Vera and two-time Olympian Paola Pérez, alongside emerging talents Ronaldo Zambrano and Daniela Suárez. The team aims to secure podium finishes in the upcoming games.
