South American Governments Launch Major Education Funding Initiatives in Peru and Chile

Peru's Ministry of Education has opened a public‑private partnership to finance the construction of a new high‑performance school in Lambayeque under the Obras por Impuestos program. The project, valued at more than S/101 million, aims to provide modern facilities for academically‑talented students and invites private firms to become strategic allies.

In Chile, the National Board of School Assistance and Scholarships (Junaeb) has begun a nationwide rollout of over 96,000 computers to seventh‑grade students and those with special educational needs. The initiative, backed by a public investment exceeding 34 billion Chilean pesos, equips each device with up‑to‑date hardware, software, and a year of free internet access, supporting digital inclusion across all regions.
