FIFA World Cup 2026 broadcast rights secured by Bangladesh government and Zee Entertainment

Bangladesh’s cabinet committee approved the purchase of exclusive television broadcasting rights for the 2026 FIFA World Cup at a cost of Tk 72.70 crore, a reduction of Tk 25.30 crore from the previous tournament. The rights will be aired on the state‑owned BTV channel, ending reliance on previous private intermediaries.

In India and the broader South Asian sub‑continent, Zee Entertainment Enterprises has acquired the FIFA media rights covering India, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Zee plans to sell 10‑second advertising spots at Rs 2.25‑2.75 lakh each and offers additional on‑screen branding and digital extensions across its Unite8 Sports channels and the Zee5 platform. The rights package runs through 2034 and includes multiple FIFA events beyond the 2026 World Cup.
