South Australia hosts inaugural MICHELIN Guide selection
The MICHELIN Guide has officially launched in Australia, with South Australia serving as the first state to be featured in the inaugural 2027 selection. Unveiled at the Adelaide Convention Centre, the guide recognizes more than 70 venues across the state for their culinary excellence, creativity, and consistency.
Magill Estate Restaurant has become the first and only restaurant in Australia to earn Two MICHELIN Stars. Led by Executive Chef Scott Huggins, the restaurant offers contemporary degustation menus overlooking the Penfolds vineyard. Other notable recognitions include One MICHELIN Star awards for establishments such as Anvers Restaurant, which focuses on modern Australian cooking.
The selection process involves anonymous inspections based on five key criteria: ingredient quality, mastery of cooking techniques, harmony of flavors, cuisine personality, and consistency. Industry leaders expect the guide to boost regional tourism and provide global exposure for local producers, winemakers, and hospitality professionals.
