South Australian man jailed for $15k Bunnings fraud

Aijaypal Tim Sanghera, 38, has been convicted and jailed in South Australia after using stolen credit card information to purchase approximately $15,899 worth of merchandise and gift cards from Bunnings.

According to police prosecutors, Sanghera used data likely obtained from the dark web to place 11 click-and-collect orders for 98 items between April and May 2026. These transactions included 20 gift cards valued at $500 each, which were linked to Sanghera’s Bunnings PowerPass account. While credit card companies reversed transactions for individual cardholders, Bunnings suffered an uncompensated loss of $14,592 after some items were seized by police during a search of Sanghera’s residence.

In addition to dishonest dealing with property, Sanghera pleaded guilty to possession of a prohibited weapon and a prescription drug. During the search of his home, police also recovered methamphetamine and ice pipes.
