South Australian pastoral stations Mount Freeling and Gilles Downs sold

Two major pastoral stations in South Australia, Mount Freeling and Gilles Downs, have been sold amid high market demand and favorable seasonal conditions. Agents from Ray White Rural SA noted that record rainfall has transformed these typically low-rainfall areas, providing long-term feed security for livestock.

Mount Freeling Station, a 100,000-hectare property in the northern Flinders Ranges, was sold by the Redpath family to the Brixton family. The Brixtons, owners of the South Australian-based company MASTEC, intend to use the acquisition to diversify their family enterprise into agriculture.

Gilles Downs Station, located near Iron Knob and spanning 47,400 hectares, was sold on a walk-in, walk-out basis. The property was acquired by Ian and Sandy Morris, who already operate the nearby Thurlga and Yardea stations, as part of an effort to expand their existing pastoral footprint.
