South Bohemian charity runs raise funds for cancer patients
Charity sporting events in the South Bohemian region have raised significant funds for cancer patients and support organizations. In Dražice, the second annual Běho-chod event saw increased participation compared to its inaugural year, with over 200 walkers and 99 runners participating. The event resulted in a donation of 74,100 CZK to the P3tule Foundation, which assists children and young people battling oncological diseases.
In a related effort, the Sportem proti rakovině (Sport Against Cancer) run provided support for the oncology department at Strakonice Hospital. Participants and donors were able to contribute directly to patient treatment via QR codes. Tomáš Fiala, director of Strakonice Hospital, noted that the oncology ward treated 804 patients between January and mid-September this year, with 267 new cancer diagnoses reported during that period. The event featured military equipment demonstrations and was supported by the 25th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment.
