South Bohemian Region allocates 37.7 million CZK for school meals
The South Bohemian Region has allocated 37.7 million CZK to its 'Meals for South Bohemian Children II' program for the upcoming school year. The subsidy is available to students aged two to 26 attending kindergartens, primary schools, secondary schools, or boarding schools within the region. Eligible applicants include families receiving child benefits or Ukrainian families with humanitarian allowances. Applications must be submitted electronically by September 30, though existing recipients will be automatically transitioned if they still meet the criteria.
In a separate effort to support students in financial difficulty, the fifth annual 'Školákům od srdce' (Students from the Heart) collection is underway. Co-organized by Diakonie ČCE, the initiative aims to provide school and art supplies to children from low-income households. Participants can donate supplies at 66 Tesco locations through September 6, or via McPen stores and their e-shop, where the organization will double the number of items selected. A financial collection is also active online with a goal of 1.5 million CZK to assist over 120 non-profit organizations and food banks in distributing essential materials.
