South Bohemian repeat offender arrested after armed robbery spree

A 31-year-old repeat offender has been arrested following a series of armed robberies and thefts in South Bohemia. The suspect carried out three separate crimes within a single week.

The spree began on September 3, 2026, when the man entered a newsstand in Písek wearing a mask and threatening the employee with a knife to steal cash. Two days later, he forcibly entered a restaurant in central Písek, stealing money and a mobile phone from the bar area.

The final incident occurred on September 9 in Strakonice, where the suspect again targeted a newsstand, using a weapon to access the sales counter and take a significant amount of banknotes. Following a large-scale search involving both active and off-duty officers, the man was apprehended in Příbram.

He is currently in custody awaiting investigation into charges of robbery and theft.
