South Bohemian Water Union announces price increases for 2027

The South Bohemian Water Union (JVS) has announced that the average price of supplied water will increase by 5.4 percent in 2027. The price is expected to rise from 26.10 CZK to 27.50 CZK per cubic meter, excluding VAT.

This increase is driven by rising costs for surface water, electricity, and chemicals, as well as updated state methodology for financing the renewal of water supply and treatment systems. JVS plans to increase its investment in asset renewal to 180.5 million CZK in 2027 to ensure the stability of the 560 km network.

In a related effort to manage regional water resources, the state enterprise Povodí Vltavy has reduced the outflow from the Římov reservoir on the Malše River from 400 to 250 liters per second. The reservoir, which provides drinking water to over 360,000 people in the South Bohemian region, is currently at approximately 52 percent capacity. The reduction aims to maximize water retention through the winter to combat ongoing drought conditions in the region.
