South Carolina and Clemson coaches address recent football struggles
College football coaches in South Carolina are facing scrutiny following recent losses. South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer addressed the team’s 2-3 start and an eight-game SEC losing streak following a 35-34 overtime loss to Kentucky. Beamer expressed confidence in the support of university administration despite the pressure.
During the press conference, Beamer confirmed that star defensive end Dylan Stewart has returned to team meetings and practice. Stewart was serving an indefinite suspension following incidents during a game against Alabama on September 26, which included punching an opponent and arguing with coaches. Stewart’s availability for the upcoming game against Florida remains undetermined.
Meanwhile, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney is looking to regroup after a 41-13 loss to the Miami Hurricanes. The defeat left the Tigers with a 3-2 record. Swinney noted that the team is a “work in progress” and intends to use the upcoming bye week to focus on offensive execution and internal development.
