South Carolina defeats Kent State 57-0 in season opener
The South Carolina Gamecocks opened their 2026 season with a 57-0 victory over the Kent State Golden Flashes at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, South Carolina.
Quarterback LaNorris Sellers led the offense, throwing for 270 yards and three touchdowns. His primary target, Donovan Murph, recorded two touchdown receptions and 92 receiving yards. The Gamecocks' rushing attack was also productive, with Jabree Coleman scoring two touchdowns on four carries.
South Carolina's defense limited Kent State to 179 total yards. The Golden Flashes, led by head coach Mark Carney in his first season, struggled offensively, managing only 79 passing yards and losing a fumble during the contest.
