South Carolina hunters capture 383kg alligator after four-year search
A group of hunters in South Carolina successfully captured a massive alligator nicknamed ‘Snaggletooth’ after a four-year search. The reptile, weighing 383 kilograms and measuring 4.2 meters in length, was caught in Lake Moultrie on September 28.
Members of Renegade Bowfishing LLC, including Cole Poplin, William Ard, Chris Webb, and Craig Webb, participated in the hunt. Poplin noted that while the animal had been spotted several times over the last four years, the limited alligator hunting season in South Carolina—which runs from the second Saturday of September to the second Saturday of October—made the capture difficult.
The hunt involved using multiple harpoons to secure the animal. Due to its immense size and weight, the hunters required a tractor to transport the alligator.
