South Carolina upsets No. 11 Tennessee with last-second field goal

South Carolina Gamecocks Tennessee Volunteers SEC football LaNorris Sellers field storming fine

South Carolina secured a dramatic 27-24 victory over No. 11 Tennessee at Williams-Brice Stadium, fueled by a late comeback. Quarterback LaNorris Sellers led the rally, accounting for three touchdowns, including a rushing score with 1:17 remaining to tie the game. Following a strip sack on Tennessee quarterback George MacIntyre, kicker Malik Orsan converted a 48-yard field goal as time expired to seal the win.

Tennessee's DeSean Bishop recorded 120 rushing yards and a touchdown, moving into 10th place on the program's all-time rushing list. However, the Volunteers struggled with late-game execution and penalties, including three touchdowns being nullified by infractions.

Following the victory, South Carolina fans stormed the field, prompting the Southeastern Conference (SEC) to issue a $500,000 fine to the university for violating access to competition area policies. Per league rules, the fine will be paid to Tennessee. SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey may reduce the penalty to $100,000 if the school can prove it made sufficient efforts to prevent the field rush.
