Darline Graham and Ralph Norman advance to SC Senate runoff

Darline Graham and U.S. Representative Ralph Norman have advanced to a Republican primary runoff for the U.S. Senate seat in South Carolina. The special election was held to fill the vacancy left by the death of Senator Lindsey Graham on July 11.

In a crowded field of 10 candidates, Darline Graham, who was appointed by Governor Henry McMaster to serve the remainder of her brother's term, led with approximately 32% to 33% of the vote. Rep. Ralph Norman secured the second spot with roughly 24% of the vote. Because no candidate achieved a majority, a runoff is scheduled for August 25.

President Donald Trump endorsed Darline Graham, describing her as the ideal candidate to carry on her brother's legacy. The winner of the August runoff will face Democratic nominee Annie Andrews in the November general election.
