South Dakota State University celebrates 114th Hobo Day
South Dakota State University (SDSU) is hosting its 114th annual Hobo Day in Brookings, a week-long series of student-led traditions expected to attract approximately 40,000 people. The festivities include various events such as Hobo Gear Prep Night, the Jacks Got Talent show, and the Bum-A-Meal tradition, where students are paired with local host homes for dinner.
As part of the celebrations, the ‘Paint the Town’ activity involves student organizations partnering with local businesses to decorate store windows and doors with school-spirited art. Dozens of Brookings businesses have participated in this tradition to foster community connection between the university and the town. The week concludes on Saturday, October 24, with the Hobo Day parade and a football game against Murray State.
