South Dakota volleyball rankings and collegiate outlook

South Dakota volleyball enters a new season with notable developments in both high school and collegiate ranks. In high school rankings for 2026, the Harrisburg Tigers lead Class AA following their status as last year's champions. Other top teams in Class AA include O'Gorman and Brandon Valley, while Dell Rapids holds the top spot in Class A and Chester Area leads Class B.

At the collegiate level, the South Dakota State University (SDSU) volleyball team is aiming for its first Summit League Conference Championship since the 2006-2007 season. Despite winning the regular season championship for the past two years, the Jackrabbits have faced tournament losses to rivals. The team returns key players including two-time Summit League Player of the Year Sylvie Zgonc, setter Rylee Martin, and Madison Burr, as they prepare for the upcoming season under head coach Dan Georgalas.
