South Dinajpur: CM announces medical college and airport revival

During his first administrative visit to South Dinajpur as Chief Minister, Suvendu Adhikari announced several major infrastructure projects for the district. Key developments include the revitalization of Balurghat Airport, which is intended to eventually support 72-seat aircraft, starting with smaller 19-seat flights to improve connectivity with Kolkata.

Additionally, the Chief Minister announced plans to establish a medical college centered around the Balurghat hospital. He indicated that a ground-breaking ceremony for the medical college is planned following Kali Puja. There are also considerations to upgrade the local nursing school into a college.

Furthermore, the administration is working on expanding the infrastructure and academic scope of South Dinajpur University, including plans to relocate it to a permanent campus on government land.
