South-East Nigerian Governors' Tinubu Endorsement Claim Refuted
Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State said the South‑East governors collectively endorsed President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election. Barr Ike Elshadai, the Nigeria Democratic Congress candidate for Enugu’s Nkanu East/Nkanu West constituency, rejected the claim, arguing that no governor can speak for the entire region’s electorate.
The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) also denied any collective endorsement, stating that no governor has constitutional or moral authority to commit voters on behalf of the South‑East. COSEYL emphasized that the region has not taken a position on any candidate and that voters will decide based on competence and justice when the election arrives.
