South East Queensland residents encouraged to recycle and maintain homes for spring
As spring arrives in South East Queensland, residents are encouraged to utilize recycling and maintenance strategies to manage household clutter and prepare properties for warmer weather.
In Logan, the Logan Recycling Market at the Browns Plains Waste and Recycling Facility offers a venue for second-hand items such as furniture, bicycles, and appliances to be reused rather than sent to landfill. The market facilitates approximately 1,000 transactions per weekend. Utilizing recycling services helps reduce the impact of the Queensland Government’s waste levy, which increases costs when more material is sent to landfill. To assist with weekend waste disposal, a second weighbridge has been opened at the Browns Plains facility.
Homeowners in the region are also advised to perform seasonal maintenance to prepare for potential thunderstorms and heavy rain. Recommended tasks include clearing gutters and downpipes, inspecting trees for damaged branches near powerlines or structures, and managing garden growth through weeding and mulching to retain soil moisture.
