South East Regional Hospital marks 10 years of service

The South East Regional Hospital (SERH) in Bega is celebrating 10 years of service. Since its opening in 2016 on a former dairy farm site, the $187 million facility has become a vital healthcare hub for the Bega Valley, Eurobodalla, Snowy Monaro, and parts of East Gippsland.

Over the past decade, the hospital has recorded 2,500 births, 200,000 emergency department attendances, and 16,000 planned surgeries. The facility provides a wide range of services, including emergency and intensive care, maternity, oncology, renal dialysis, and mental health services.

To mark the anniversary, the Southern NSW Local Health District is developing the Bega Valley Clinical Services Plan to guide healthcare delivery for the next decade. The hospital is also upgrading its diagnostic capabilities with a new CT scanner. A community celebration is scheduled for September 30, which will include the unveiling of a permanent historic photo display.
