South Europe Ground Services handles 32 million passengers in summer

South Europe Ground Services (South), an IAG Group company, reported serving more than 32.27 million passengers during its third summer operational period, spanning June 15 to September 15.

In addition to passenger traffic, the company managed 16.3 million pieces of luggage and nearly 200,000 aircraft across 38 airports in Spain. Operational volumes remained consistent with the same period from the previous year.

Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas served as the primary hub, handling approximately 10.8 million passengers, 8 million pieces of luggage, and over 54,000 aircraft. Barcelona-El Prat followed as the second largest hub with nearly 7.7 million passengers, 2.5 million bags, and 45,200 aircraft managed. Other notable activity occurred in Palma de Mallorca, Bilbao, Tenerife Norte, and Santiago de Compostela.

Miguel Ángel Gimeno, CEO of South Europe Ground Services, highlighted the performance of the teams in managing high operational levels during this peak season.
