South Hams walkers raise funds for Alzheimer's research
Two walkers in South Hams have completed long-distance charity treks to raise funds for Alzheimer's Research UK and Dartmouth Caring.
Nick Hindmarsh, a River Dart Rotarian, completed a 177km walk from Dartmouth and back over four days, raising over £1,000. He was joined by former postman Robert Shearwood, who completed a 175km route across South Devon. Their efforts were prompted by the postponement of the ‘Endure for a Cure’ challenge, organized by Peter Horne, who had to delay the event until 2027 due to a hospital admission.
The broader fundraising campaign aims to collect £50,000 for Alzheimer's Research UK and the Dartmouth Caring Memory Café, with approximately £15,000 raised to date.
