South India's Rail and Bus Services Adjusted for Maintenance and Aadi Perukku

Indian rail operators have cancelled, diverted or partially suspended twelve express trains serving routes from Coimbatore, Salem and Kanyakumari as maintenance work proceeds at KSR Bengaluru Railway Station. The changes, effective from early August, include the cancellation of the Yesvantpur–Mangaluru Weekly Expresses, alterations to Vande Bharat services that now originate from Bengaluru Cantonment or terminate at Krishnarajapuram, and rerouting of Uday Express trains via SMVT Bengaluru. Several Salem–Yesvantpur services have been shifted to originate from Banaswadi or truncated at that point.

To handle the surge of travelers during the Aadi Perukku festival, Tamil Nadu's State Transport Corporations will run 2,030 special buses between July 31 and August 2. Buses will depart from major Chennai terminals and other cities, linking destinations such as Tiruvannamalai, Kumbakonam, Madurai, Nagercoil, Coimbatore, Salem and Bengaluru. Over 13,500 passengers have already booked tickets, and additional staff have been deployed at bus stations to ensure smooth operations.
