South Island Outlaws launch new youth football program

The South Island Outlaws, a new community tackle football program, has launched to address a gap in youth sports for Grade 9 and 10 athletes in the Greater Victoria area. The program was established by local parents to provide an option for students who fall outside the catchments of specific high school programs, such as those in private schools or French immersion.

The Outlaws played their inaugural game on August 30 against the Raiders in the Vancouver Mainland Football League (VFML), resulting in a 25-21 loss. During the kickoff, the Westshore Rebels supported the new team by lending them jerseys after the Outlaws' own uniforms failed to arrive in time. The organization operates as a non-profit.
