Jakarta South Private School Weapon Cache Triggers Investigation
A cache of 995 weapons, comprising air‑soft guns, firearms, ammunition, magazines, a shotgun and other accessories, was discovered in a locked room of a private school in Pondok Pinang, Kebayoran Lama, Jakarta Selatan. Police received a public tip on 15 July 2026, filed a Model A report and began a criminal investigation. The haul also included narcotics (cannabis and methamphetamine) and about 30 pornographic VCDs.
PT Lokta Karya Perbakin, the company that supplied the air‑soft guns, says the items are legal inventory for an extracurricular shooting programme and are covered by police licence SI/5483‑XII/2008. The school’s legal team, however, denies that any shooting extracurricular ever existed. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung and several DPR members, including Hetifah Sjaifudian and Hasanuddin, have called for a thorough and transparent probe, stressing the seriousness of the find for school safety and public security. Police have seized the weapons, stored them in a state evidence warehouse, and are also examining a locked bunker on the premises that may contain additional arms.
