Jakarta private school finds 995 weapons, narcotics and porn videos; PT Lokta Karya Perbakin says airsoft guns are legal
Police received a public tip on 15 July 2026 about a locked room in a private school foundation in Pondok Pinang, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta. A subsequent Model A police report led investigators to discover 995 weapon pieces, comprising 776 air‑soft revolvers, 215 air‑soft pistols, several air‑soft rifles, four air‑soft rifles, one firearm and related accessories. The cache also contained narcotics identified as cannabis and methamphetamine and roughly 30 pornographic VCDs. PT Lokta Karya Perbakin, the company that supplied the air‑soft guns, asserted the items are legally licensed under police permit SI/5483‑XII/2008 and that most are spare parts, not functional firearms. The school’s legal counsel denied any shooting extracurricular activity and said regular teaching continued. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung demanded strict legal action against those responsible. The investigation remains ongoing, with police securing the weapons and forwarding narcotics evidence to the narcotics unit, while the ownership of the illegal items is still being examined amid an internal dispute over the school’s management.
