South Jakarta promotes early childhood cancer detection

The South Jakarta City Government, in collaboration with the TP PKK and the Anyo Indonesia Foundation, is promoting early detection of childhood cancer through PKK cadres. During a socialization event titled “Waspada dan Kenali Gejala Kanker pada Anak Sejak Dini,” South Jakarta Mayor Syafrin Liputo emphasized the importance of recognizing symptoms early to ensure children receive timely medical intervention.

Liputo encouraged cadres to utilize government programs, such as free health checks, to gather early health information for families. Dewi Rano, Vice Chairperson of the DKI Jakarta TP PKK, noted that Indonesia sees approximately 11,156 new childhood cancer cases annually among those aged 0 to 19, with leukemia accounting for about 34.8 percent of these cases.
