South Kalimantan Road Repair Inspection Highlights Cracks and Safety Concerns

Commission III of the South Kalimantan Regional Parliament inspected the ongoing repair of the landslide‑affected road at Sungai Lulut. The team found new cracks in the road surface, which they attribute to premature traffic on a section still undergoing compaction. Members urged the contractor to tighten supervision, recommending the involvement of police and local enforcement officers to keep the area clear of vehicles.

Commission member H. M. Rosehan NB said the road is slated to open on 10 August, but the presence of cracks could signal a risk of further landslides. He emphasized that the contractor must ensure the road is fully stabilized before opening. PUPR official Misna Utri Wiharti explained that the compaction process has just finished and will continue for about 30 days before paving can begin, after which the road should become stable.
