South Korea addresses China's 'two states' remarks and prepares for France state visit

South Korean National Security Advisor Wi Seong-rak addressed recent diplomatic friction regarding China’s use of the “two states” terminology in official statements. Wi clarified that the “two states” theory represents North Korea’s position, not that of the South Korean government, and noted that necessary diplomatic measures have been taken with Beijing to communicate this stance.

Separately, President Lee Jae-myung is scheduled to conduct a four-day state visit to France starting September 6. At the invitation of President Emmanuel Macron, Lee will co-chair the Lumiere Summit in Saint-Paul-de-Vence, an event described as the “Davos Forum of the film industry,” to promote K-content and global market expansion. The visit will also include bilateral summits in Paris, a business roundtable with 20 companies, and discussions on cooperation in advanced technologies such as AI, space, nuclear energy, and biotechnology.
