South Korea and Iran discuss Strait of Hormuz deployment amid regional tensions
South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun held a phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to discuss the Middle East situation and the Strait of Hormuz. Protesters gathered near the U.S. Embassy in Seoul to rally against joining what they characterize as an illegal war, expressing concerns over potential casualties and the impact on national sovereignty. Meanwhile, the South Korean Ministry of National Defense confirmed that a fact-finding mission was recently dispatched to the Middle East to assess regional conditions, though officials clarified this mission does not predetermine a military deployment.
