South Korea and Japan face off in Asian Games basketball final
The South Korean men's basketball team is set to face Japan in the final of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games at the Aichi International Arena. This marks the first time the two nations have met in an Asian Games final. South Korea is seeking its fifth gold medal and its first away title in 44 years.
Controversy has emerged regarding the tournament organization. Japanese media reported public confusion over the basketball schedule, noting that the final follows shortly after the opening ceremony. Additionally, the South Korean team reported that a scheduled transport vehicle failed to arrive on time, forcing the cancellation of a planned morning training session. The Korean Sport & Olympic Committee plans to issue a formal protest to the organizing committee and the Olympic Council of Asia.
Separately, Professor Seo Kyoung-duk of Sungshin Women's University has launched a campaign to prevent the display of the Rising Sun Flag during the games. He expressed concern that the flag, which symbolizes Japanese militarism, might appear in stadiums or broadcasts, and has requested public reports to raise international awareness of the issue.
